Based on lexical comparative series, the paper identifies correspondence formulas that justify the identification of consonant labiovelars phonemes (*kp, *gb, *ngb and *Nm) in a historical system which is common to the Central Sudanic languages (Nilo-Saharan phylum of the African continent).
